The C/M-1 Instrument Panel contains the main avionics and other important gauges.
EFIS (Electronic Flight Instrument System)
As MDMAX simulates the EFIS equipped version of the Super 80, two display units (DU), the Primary Flight Display (PFD) and Navigation Display (ND), a Mode Select Panel (MSP) and a dimming panel are included.
|
Display Units (DU)
The Primary Flight Display (PFD) shows the simbology relative to aircraft’s attitude, and other important information like Radar Altitude, DH, Ground Speed, Fast / Slow indication, markers and glide slope / extended localizer’s offset, as applicable. It can be tested during preliminary cockpit preparation, with the correct sequence of visual and aural messages represented exactly like in the actual cockpit.

The Navigation Display (ND) has been designed using a custom graphic library, in order to maximize its readability and precision in any condition, even when the display is overcrowded with large quantity of information. It works in Rose, Arc and Map mode, the last with selectable range in NM and symbols representing navigational facilities (N-AID, ARPT, WPT) trought the MSP. Dual ADF display is fully supported and operative through each relative needle (green and cyan arrow) pointing to the NDB stations currently tuned-in. The ND has also the current magnetic heading display, a dual DME readout, a wind velocity & direction vector, a CDI for VOR course and localizer's deviation indication, and a glide slope symbology as applicable.

Through the dimming panel you can control display's brightness, decision height and execute the self test.

Vertical Speed Indicator / Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (VSI / TCAS)
The standard analog Vertical Speed indicator has been replaced with a multi function gauge, working as TCAS also and displaying information about imminent hazards caused by nearby traffic.
|
Different colors and symbols are used to identify the threat type, and labels are added to spot traffic's distance and trend. It has a selectable range in NM, an Above / Normal / Below mode (to be used accordingly to current flight phase) and can be tested during preliminary cockpit preparation in order to check for proper operation. The TCAS works with FS 'AI' generated traffic.

Analog Instruments
The traditional analog instruments include the Mach/Ias Indicator, Altimeter, RMI (Radio Magnetic Indicator) and Clock / Chronometer.
The Mach/Ias Indicator has configurable speedbugs along the instrument’s scale, to mark critical takeoff, flight and landing’s speeds (a salmon bug is also present to match the current DFGC ATS speed). In order to avoid the need to move each single bug separately, that can be tricky using just a mouse or a keyboard, a custom button is supplied to reposition them automatically as appropriate, depending on aircraft’s Gross Weight and flight phase. Those speeds are specified on the speedbugs sheets for different GW (the Zero Fuel Weight is issued on the Load Sheet depending on passengers number and cargo; updated Gross Weight information, is then available on the Fuel Qty gauge if properly set).
The Altimeter has two bugs, which can be moved manually along the instrument’s scale, to mark reference altitudes as necessary for the current flight phase and airfield operations.
The RMI has fully working dual VOR pointer (NAV1 and NAV2), through each relative rotating needles.
Flight Mode Annunciator (FMA)
Over than 40 annunciations are allocated to this MD80 typical and useful gauge, in order to show the status about active or armed DFGC modes (Autopilot, Flight Director, Autothrottle, Armed functions, Roll and Pitch profile). You will observe this important gauge frequently during flight operations, as not only it presents the real DFGC status, but also confirms that the system is actually working as the pilot intends.
Other controls and gauges
The C/M-1 Instrument panel includes also a GPWS and Below Glide Slope light indicator/button, Hydraulic pumps switches a Static Air control selector, and more...
A C/M-1 Instrument Panel Lights module is provided to control gauges integral lights, digital readouts intensity on the FMA and cockpit panel flood lights.
